The Path To The Dark Side
We can even learn from science fiction movies like Star Wars. One of the most famous characters and quotes is Yoda saying, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
In the Star Wars movies, someone could make the decision to become a Jedi knight, but Yoda and the Jedi council let them know about the threat of fear pulling them to the dark side. Those who think about becoming Christians need to know the threat of fear too -
Those who think about becoming Christians before they pray or make decisions to do so (count the cost - Luke 14:25-35), shouldn't be discouraged because of the "fear" of being made fun of, treated unfairly, or killed, etc. by those who hate Christians.
People make decisions to become Christians without counting the cost (realize that Christians are treated this way), and once they are treated this way, they are filled with "anger". As a result, they "hate" those who treat them these ways. (This isn't a good sign, because 1 John 3:14 warns, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.") The final result is that this person will experience "suffering" in hell, because they wasn't a Christian in the first place, even though they accepted Jesus as their Savior. They more than likely would have became a Christian if they counted the cost before they prayed or made a decision to become a Christian - see chapter 4 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com
