Sin is definitely not our friend. It not only leads to death and physically or emotionally hurts those we sin against, but it's also against God, as if we sinned directly against Him.

In Genesis 39:9, Joseph told Potiphar that if he committed adultery with her, it would be a wicked thing and a sin against God. In another instance, King David is recorded in Psalm 51:4 telling God, "Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest." (This regarded the time Nathan the prophet came to correct David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba.)
