Face To Face With Jesus

When people came to Jesus and wanted to be healed, it was automatic that they were healed. But why does it seem so impossible that Jesus will answer our prayers today?

Matthew 9:27-31 record such an instance -

27And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. 28And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 29Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 30And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. 31But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

When Christians want their prayers answered, they need to visualize that they are in the situation like the blind men in the previous verses. In verse 27 these men not only realized that Jesus could heal them, but they believed He was the Messiah and the Way to heaven when they called Him Son of David. One of the prophecies about the Messiah was that He would be a descendant of King David. Other than spiritual healing, these men were seeking physical healing.

The key to having answered prayers is to imagine that after we have asked Jesus to heal us or someone else or have asked Him to come into someone's heart and save them, we need to imagine Him asking us the question in verse 28, "Believe ye that I am able to do this?" After that, we need to say, "Yea, Lord." As a result, Jesus will say, "According to your faith be it unto you." In other words, because we have believed, our prayer is answered.

The people in Jesus' day were able to talk to Jesus face to face, but if you are a Christian, Jesus sticketh closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). He is just as near as He was to the people recorded in the Bible. Instead of helplessly praying and hoping God will hear you, act as if Jesus is standing right beside you. Your faith and confidence will greatly improve, and the result will be answered prayers. However, there are other steps to Christians having their prayers answered.
