In continuation of the previous messages, Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee (a group of Jewish leaders who were strongly against the idea that Jesus was the Messiah) was clearly chosen by God to be a Christian, because he helped bury Jesus in front of the Pharisees and everyone. John 19:39-40 records, "39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury."

But, the message Jesus told Nicodemus at night when he came to Him was recorded in John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." So, at some time, Nicodemus accepted Jesus as his Savior and became born again. He had to do this, even though God chose him.
