What Are Pauline Dispensationalists? 2

Today's message doesn't just include Pauline dispensationalists, because many seem to be confused about the following:

Galatians 1:8-9 teaches that those who preach a different gospel than Paul preached aren't going to heaven. Of course, however, they can be forgiven (Matthew 12:31). Paul's gospel is in fact stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1- 4, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" Paul was indeed serious about this and didn't tolerate other gospels.

Years ago, this was difficult for me to understand, because the Bible seemed to contradict itself:

In Matthew 10:38 Jesus said, "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me." So, someone can believe in Jesus, but if they know they aren't going to live the Christian lifestyle (take up their cross and follow Jesus - For an example of what this looks like, see chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) after they accept Him as their Savior, they are wasting Jesus' time (aren't worthy of Him). John 2:23-25 makes this clear, "23Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man."

Acts 2:38 also records, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Therefore, you can see that Jesus and Peter proclaimed things that don't solely match Paul's gospel, and Paul's words to king Agrippa in Acts 26:19-20 really closes this case. But, there's more, and keep in mind how opposed Paul was toward those who preached a different gospel (Galatians 1:8-9).

In order to silence the false teachers who taught that you couldn't receive salvation unless you were circumcised according to the custom of Moses (Acts 15:1), the apostles, including Peter, met in order to answer the false teachers and publically declare that they were in full agreement as to what is the one true gospel. This is what the first church council in Acts 15 was about. One of the first things Paul did, besides possibly meeting John for the first time (Galatians 2:9), was to make sure they were all on the same page about the gospel message. Obviously, they were fully united in agreement (see Galatians 2:1-10). There's no way Paul would have tolerated this meeting if he had thought the other apostles preached a false gospel. There's also no way he would have tolerated himself if he had thought that he preached a false gospel when he told those in Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. (Acts 26:20)
