Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father, we thank you for the oppertunity to worship your Son this morning. We know that if He hadn't died on the cross for our sins and arose from the dead, we would have no way to have a future home in Heaven or the privilage of worshiping Him this morning. Please bless us indeed and give us the strength and wisdom to live the way the Bible says we should live. We pray that everyone who reads this sermon who are not saved will become saved before it is too late. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Use the whole Bible

Too many church leaders use one or several Bible verses and seem to tell people to ignore the rest of the Bible. These leaders may have good intentions, but some have evil intentions in order to trick people into thinking they are Christians but really aren't.

A classic example is John 3:16, which says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." People who read John 3:16 can be saved if their hearts are prepared to receive Jesus (see ,  But after that, John 3:17-21 says "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (So the condemnation, or punishment, for someone who refuses to believe in Jesus is directly related to someone who refuses to quit sinning.) For every one that doeth evil (which means continually sins on purpose and doesn’t want to stop) hateth the light, neither cometh to the light (will not receive Jesus and be saved), lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

So people can believe in Jesus, but if they want to continue to sin the way they have their whole life, they aren't ready to get saved.

Also, someone can believe in Jesus, but if that belief doesn’t result in good works (with the exception of those who get saved but don’t live long after that or people who are in bad health and can’t get out and do much) and a changed life, they aren’t saved because they have a dead faith. This is explained in James 2:26 which says, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." A similar verse is Titus 1:16 which says, "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

Of course it takes time for a new Christian to grow and follow Jesus (For instructions on how to begin to follow Jesus, see this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven), and many people pray or make a decision to get saved shortly before they pass on, they may pass on without warning after they have been a Christian for a short amount of time, or they may be in bad health conditions and don't have a lot of opportunities to do good works. In situations like these, there may not be enough evidence for that person's friends or family to know if the person made it to heaven.

In conclusion, it is very important to use the whole Bible because we can mislead others.

If you have prayed or made a decision to believe that Jesus died for your sins on the cross, asked Him to come into your heart, or trusted Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, etc., but you haven't given up your old lifestyle and began to live the Christian life, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

If you have never prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, you must be willing to follow Jesus "from this moment on and for the rest of your life" before you trust Jesus to save you. This website will tell you how - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven
