Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father, we thank you for the oppertunity to worship your Son this morning. We know that if He hadn't died on the cross for our sins and arose from the dead, we would have no way to have a future home in Heaven or the privilage of worshiping Him this morning. Please bless us indeed and give us the strength and wisdom to live the way the Bible says we should live. We pray that everyone who reads this sermon who are not saved will become saved before it is too late. We pray a special blessing for mothers today, and we thank You for using them to make the world a better place. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

A Message for Parents

Today is a day for mothers to be honored and appreciated. Mothers have many important roles, and one of the most important roles is teaching their children right from wrong. God expects this, and many people agree that they wouldn't be the person they are today if it wasn't for their mothers correcting them when they sinned.

Although, many mothers and fathers don't realize that they are supposed to avoid sinning, including mistreating their children. Many parents quote, "Honour thy father and thy mother:" (Exodus 20:12), while they are right in the middle of doing everything but respecting their children. Before they quote Exodus 20:12, they need to remember Jesus' words in Matthew 7:3-5 which says, "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

The apostle Paul said in Colossians 3:21, "Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." This verse applies to mothers too, and it means do not aggravate your children, because that could lead their children to stop honoring them and begin hating them. A similar verse is Ephesians 6:4, and it says, "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."

So, how do parents aggravate their children? For one, the parents get in their face and scream at them like a drill sergant because they accidently broke something, are sitting on the couch the wrong way, put their shoes in the wrong place, put their dirty clothes in the wrong hamper, turned the wrong light on, did something out of order, etc. Parents also call their children worthless, an embarresment to their family, pathetic, etc. Also, parents look for a variety of ways to aggravate their children on purpose, literally hoping that their children will be discouraged (Colossians 3:21).

Obviously, God doesn't want parents behaving this way. However, parents should discipline their children when they sin, but there is a big difference from that discipline and the previous paragraph.

In conclusion, if you have prayed or made a decision to believe that Jesus died for your sins on the cross, asked Him to come into your heart, or trusted Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, etc., but you

treat or have treated others this way (parent or not), please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

If you have never prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, you must be willing to follow Jesus "from this moment on and for the rest of your life" before you trust Jesus to save you. This website will tell you how - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven
