For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 22

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 22:1-10

1And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, 2The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, 3And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 4Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. 5But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: 6And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. 7But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. 9Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 10So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

The purpose of this parable is  to show how unthinkable it is for someone to rudely turn down God's gracious offer of salvation. God, in His amazing goodness, gives us the gift of spending eternity with Him in heaven (something we don't deserve). It's a shame for someone to turn down this offer, but it is pure evil for someone to bodly and hatefully throw God's invitation back in His face. (This is what Matthew 22:6 is referring to.) Although, these people can still become Christians.

Matthew 22:5 also refers to people who turn down God's offer of salvation because they don't have time and think they have more important things to do. Not only do they not have time to believe that Jesus is their Savior, they definitely don't have time to follow Jesus' advice in Luke 14:25–35 and count the cost before they pray or make a descion to become a Christian. For information on this, see chapter 4 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com

Instead of the kind of people that were mentioned in the previous two paragraphs, God is able to give salvation to both bad and good acting people (Matthew 22:9-10).
