For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 18

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 18:7-9

7Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! (People are going to, more than likely, be rude and treat you badly throughout your life, but it is a very bad idea for you to be the one treating others badly. If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are gulity of this, please follow chapter 10 of this book -  www.areyousureyouaresaved.com)

8Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. 9And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

Jesus isn't telling us to literally cut our hands and feet off and pluck our eyes out if we sin; instead, He is explaining the seriousness of sin. His hand reference is probably referring to acts of violence, His foot reference is probably referring to people traveling from place to place gossiping, and His eye refence is probably referring to lust. Although, all sin is serious. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;", and Romans 6:23 adds, "For the wages of sin is death;.."

No matter what sin we commit, God cannot allow us to enter into heaven when we leave this world. The only way we can go to heaven is if we have our sins erased (become saved). Chapter 41of this book explains this. However, this doesn't apply to children who don't know right from wrong or people who are born with mental handicaps that prevent them from being able to unerstand.
