For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 16

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 16:1-4

1The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven. 2He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. 3And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? 4A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

The Pharisees and the Sadducees were still wanting to see Jesus perform miracles after all He had already done, which proved He was the Messiah. Verse 4 is referring to Jonah being in the whales belly for three days, and Jesus is saying that He will be burried for three days after dying on the cross and then raise from the dead. This is even more evidence that Jesus is the Savior.

Matthew 16:5-12

5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread. 6Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread. 8Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 10Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Just like leaven (also know as yeast) starts off small, but eventually permeates or spreads throughout the entire loaf of bread, the teaching of the Pharisees and the Sadducees eventually spread to many people, Jesus was telling His discples to beware of their false teaching.

In our day and time, the popular teaching that started out small but has spread to many people is that someone can become a Christian by believing the facts about Jesus' death on cross, without considering anything about true biblical repentance and a willingness to follow Jesus, and can basically live any way they want after they believe that Jesus is their Savior. If you have read chapters 1, 2, 4-9, 16, 20, and 34 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com you will see the Bible doesn't teach that. Many years ago, they got it right, but this incorrect theology has grown in popularity. Many church leaders have good intentions, but there are those who use this incorrect theology in order to trick others so they will think that they are Christians, when they really aren't, and go to hell when they die. Other church leaders use this incorrect theology in order to attrack as many people as possible, so they will become wealthy through their large congrations' tithes and offerings.

When someone teaches or preaches in a church and uses these tactics, the true Christian should realize what is going on and not fall for those tricks (1 Thessalonians 5:21). (If you have asked Jesus into your heart, believed that Jesus is your Savior, or trusted Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into heaven, etc., but you have fallen for tricks like these, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure
