For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 15

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 15:1-9

1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. (The scribes and Pharisees had many rituals and tranditions they performed, which made them think they were devout and holy, but their hearts didn't belong to God. In this instance, they negleted to take care of their parents who needed their financial support, and the excuse they used was that they vowed to give the money that was supposed to be used to help their parents to God instead. Jesus made the point that they were not honoring their parents when they did this.) 7Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

8This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (This means you can tell someone that you have said a prayer to get saved, you can go to church, pray before you go to bed, and read your Bible, but if you don't have full fellowship with Christ, your heart is far from Him. Some verses that supports this are (2 Corinthians 5:15-17, Matthew 12:30, Matthew 6:24, and Revelation 3:15-16); there is no riding the fence when it comes to living the Christian life.) If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you don't have full fellowship with Christ (This lifestyle is described in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), please follow chapter 10 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com)

9But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (The scribes and Pharisees had their traditions, but a popular tradition that people teach and believe today is that praying to believe that Jesus is your Savior, going to church, praying before you go to bed, and reading your Bible is all there is to the Christian life. Chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com proves there is more to the Christian life.)
