For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW
Matthew 13:52
52Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Jesus is teaching us the importance of the Old Testament and not just the New Testament, where He arrived on the scene. The following are reasons why we should pay close attention to the Old Testament:
The Old Testament has over 300 prophicies that Jesus fulfilled, and this overwhelming proof that Jesus is the Messiah.
The Law of Moses and the Ten Commandments are a major theme in the Old Testament, and one of their purposes is to get us to realize that we fall very short of God's standard. Although, since Jesus never sinned, He was the only person who met God's perfect standard. Second Corinthians 5:21 tells us, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." This means while Jesus was nailed to the cross, God took our sins and placed them on Jesus. As a result, Jesus gives us His perfect righteousness (we become Christians) if our hearts are prepared to recieve Him (explained in chapters 16 and 8 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) and we trust His death on the cross to erase our sins and let us into heaven when we leave this world.
Who can over look the amazing faith of the Old Testament saints? The Old Testament also gives us a lot of practical advice for how to live the way God wants us to live each day. Proverbs is a prime example of this.
In conclusion, anyone who understands these things has a real treasure (Matthew 13:52).
