Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for the opportunity to learn about Your Word. We pray that you will help us to understand these verses in Matthew so we can fulfill our purpose in life. May everyone who tunes in this evening receive a blessing and learn from your Word and be able to apply what we have learned in our daily lives. We're eternally thankful for this ministry, and we pray that we can share these websites with others and many people can begin to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 9

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 9:16-17

16No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

Jesus was saying that the old Mosaic ceremonial forms/rituals do not have anything to do with the New Covenant. Colossians 2:16-17 explains this, and they say, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink (These are dietary regulations most likely in Leviticus 11, but the following verses explain that Christians are not required to follow the Old Testament dietary restrictions - Acts 10:9-15; Mark 7:14-19; Romans 14:17; 1 Timothy 4:1-5; 1 Corinthians 8:8; Hebrews 9:9-10), or in respect of an holyday (yearly Jewish religious celebrations such as Passover, Pentecost, or Tabernacles), or of the new moon (the sacrifice offered on the first day of each month), or of the sabbath days (a day to rest on the seventh day of each week. Acts 20:7 and Romans 14:5-6 teach that Christians aren't required to do this.): Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ (Things such as dietary regulations, Jewish festivals, and animal sacrifices from the Old Testament were pointing to the coming of Christ, and since Christ has already came, these things are no longer needed.)."

(If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you also have been keeping dietary regulations, Jewish festivals, and animal sacrifices, etc. because you believe that will get you into heaven, you need to understand that Jesus is the way to heaven. Matthew 9:18-26

18While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. 19And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

20And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 21For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 22But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

23And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

The ruler believed that Jesus could raise his daughter from the dead, and the woman that had an issue of blood for twelve years believed if she touched the hem of Jesus' garment she would be healed. These seem like impossible circumstances, but they had the right amount faith needed. As a result, they were healed.

(If you have not prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, you must be willing to repent "from this moment on and for the rest of your life" before you pray or make a decision to become a Christian (This concept is explained in these websites - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/theanswer and http://chriswaug5.wix.com/nocontridiction). If you are willing to live this way, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven

(If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven)
