Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for the opportunity to learn about Your Word. We pray that you will help us to understand these verses in Matthew so we can fulfill our purpose in life. May everyone who tunes in this evening receive a blessing and learn from your Word and be able to apply what we have learned in our daily lives. We're eternally thankful for this ministry, and we pray that we can share these websites with others and many people can begin to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 8

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 8:2,3

2And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

When someone wants to become a Christian, they need to believe that they will become a Christian after they trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase their sins and let them into Heaven when they leave this world. Also, when a Christian has an illness, and they humbly pray to God and believe that He will answer their prayer, they will be healed. (However, if you are a Christian, but you have sinned and have not asked God to forgive you for that sin, God will not answer your prayers until you have asked God to forgive you for saying something sinful, thinking something sinful, doing something sinful, or not doing something that the Holy Spirit urged you to say or do. Also, you should ask God to forgive you for sinning in ways that you didn’t realize you had sinned. These concepts are taught in Psalm 66:18, and it says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:”)

Matthew 8:5-13

5And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 7And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel (The centurion, who was a Gentile, displayed ultimate faith and humility by believeing Jesus could heal his servant.). 11And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven (Jesus is referring to Gentiles who will become Christians.). 12But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Jesus is referring to Jewish people who believe they are going to Heaven because they are descentants of Abraham. Similarly, many people today believe they are going to Heaven because their parents are Christians, and their household follows Christian principles.). 13And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Matthew 8:14,15

14And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. 15And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

When someone becomes a Christian, they are full of joy, and they will naturally show love towards other people by putting their needs above their own needs (John 13:35). A similar instance was Acts 16:25-34. This is also known as doing good works (James 2:26).
