Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank you for the oppertunity to learn about Your Word. We know that Your Word is the final athority, and it's by far the most important Book in the world. We're extremely thankful for Your Son being born into this world over 2,000 years ago and this time of the year in which we can worship Him.  May everyone who tunes in this evening receive a blessing from the Christmas music and learn from your Word and be able to apply what we have learned in our daily lives. We're eternally thankful for this ministry, and we pray that we can share these websites with others and many people can begin to have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Matthew. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, or do right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 4

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW

Matthew 4:1-11

1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (God was wanting Jesus to fast, and the devil tried to get Jesus to disobey His Father. If we are a Christian and the Holy Spirit urges us and gives us thoughts to do things such as witness to and help others or study the Bible, we should not let the devil cause us to do something different. When we spend our time doing what we want to do instead of spending our time doing what God wants us to do, we are sinning.)

5Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. (People shouldn't ask God to show them signs so they will believe in Him; they must believe by faith. It is also very important for people to read "all" of the Bible because the devil tries to lead people to read one Bible verse and ignore the rest of the Bible. Many people, for example, are tricked into believing that they will go to Heaven if they try to keep the Ten Commandments, and that is all they need to do.)

8Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (The devil was trying to get Jesus to take the easy way out by receiving all of the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them now without first going through the suffering He was going to have to go through. In the same way, we must patiently get through the sufferings of trials on this earth if we want to share in the future glory in Heaven (James 1:12 and 1 Peter 5:10). In other words, if we profess to be a Christian, but we give up living the Christian life and never return to living that lifestyle, that proves that we are not really a Christian. We should also be happy when we have trials because Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God (This describes a Christian who witnesses to and/or helps others (puts other people's needs before their needs), and when they aren't doing that, they try to keep their mind on the things of God, and they do these things because they want to make God look good in front of others and enjoy spending time with Him more than anyone else.), to them who are the called according to his purpose (This describes a Christian who spends their time each day doing the things that were just mentioned in the previous note.)." If you have prayed or made a decision to get saved, and you live the way Romans 8:28 just described, you know that you are really saved. So when you face trails, it is just another piece of evidence that proves that you are saved, so you shouldn't think that something strange and out of the ordinary is happening in your life (1 Peter 4:12). This gives you assurance of your salvation, and that is definetly a reason to be happy!  Also, you know that something good is going to come out of it, even though you may not be able to recognize it. Another important verse on this topic is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 which says, "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will (what God wants) of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.") 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
