For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Mark. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 2

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MARK

Mark 2:21-22

21No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse. 22And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

Jesus was saying that the old Mosaic ceremonial forms/rituals do not have anything to do with the New Covenant. Colossians 2:16-17 explains this, and they say, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink (These are dietary regulations most likely in Leviticus 11, but the following verses explain that Christians are not required to follow the Old Testament dietary restrictions - Acts 10:9-15; Mark 7:14-19; Romans 14:17; 1 Timothy 4:1-5; 1 Corinthians 8:8; Hebrews 9:9-10), or in respect of an holyday (yearly Jewish religious celebrations such as Passover, Pentecost, or Tabernacles), or of the new moon (the sacrifice offered on the first day of each month), or of the sabbath days (a day to rest on the seventh day of each week. Acts 20:7 and Romans 14:5-6 teach that Christians aren't required to do this.): Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ (Things such as dietary regulations, Jewish festivals, and animal sacrifices from the Old Testament were pointing to the coming of Christ, and since Christ has already came, these things are no longer needed.)."

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you also have been keeping dietary regulations, Jewish festivals, and animal sacrifices, etc. because you believe that will get you into heaven, you need to understand that Jesus is the way to heaven.
