For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in John. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 1

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

These verses are referring to Jesus. Jesus is the light, and while He was earth, He shinned His light into the world (which was full of sin/darkness) by the way He talked and what He did. When Christians follow Jesus (For an example of how to do this, see chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), they shine their lights into this dark and sinful world, and those who are full of darkness and sin (those who aren't Christians) don't generally understand why Christians live the way they do. As a result, they often hate Christians and mistreat them. When Christians follow Jesus, that light shines into their sinful (dark) lifestyles, and it causes them be under conviction (The Holy Spirit lets them know that they are lost and need to become Christians.) and makes them uncomfortable.

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you haven't been living a similar lifestyle to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com please follow chapter 10 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com

If you have not prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, please follow chapter 41 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com
