For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Mark. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 16

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MARK

Mark 16:14-20

14Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. (There were disciples who didn't believe Jesus arose from the dead after being told that. God still works miracles today, and we need to realize that all things are possible.) 15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (The Lord wants Christians to do this today as well, and chapters 26-33 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com give helpful information as to how to do this.) 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; (After someone becomes a Christian, they should be baptized.) but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Those who don't pray or make decisions to become Christians won't go to heaven, with the exception of children who are too young to understand and those who were born without the ability to understand.)  17And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (These were signs that proved Jesus' disciples were Christians, and it allowed people who heard their gospel messages to trust that what they said was true. People misunderstand these verses and do things such as handle venomous snakes and drink poision to see if it will kill them, and if they get bit or drink poision and don't die, they will know they are really Christians. Someone who does this is tempting God. Luke 14:9-12 gives an example of this, "9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Also, not every Christian has every one of these gifts, but the eleven disciples in these verses seemingly did. First Corinthians 12:4-11 reveals this, "4Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.")

19So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (see notes for verses 15-18)
