For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Mark. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 9

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MARK

Mark 9:33-37

33And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? 34But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. 35And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. (Jesus teaches us not to be focused on competing for high positions and being proud. Instead, He wants us to think differently and be humble. Jesus taught that true greatness comes by serving others and not by having people serve you. Mark 10:44-45 say, "... but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." Chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com gives examples of how to serve others. If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you haven't been living these ways, please follow chapter 10 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) 36And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, 37Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. (This verse is showing that when a Christian recieves someone (does something kind, helpful, and welcoming, etc. because they love and want to help that person and want them to think good thoughts about Jesus and God), they aren't only symbologically recieving Jesus, they are recieving God. This expresses that Jesus and God are One, and someone can't recieve God without first recieving Jesus as their Savior. Similar verses are Matthew 10:40, Luke 10:16, and John 13:20.)
