For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Mark. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 1

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MARK

Mark 1:1-8

1The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; (There are people who claim that somebody will go to hell if they are telling someone how they can become a Christian and mention anything about repentance, discipleship, and Jesus' Lordship, instead of just the death, burial, and resurection of Jesus, because that is the apostle Paul's gospel. Although, what about the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God? Also, see chapter 5 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com in order to find out how Paul witnessed to others - You're in for a big suprise.)

2As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

3The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

4John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. 5And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins (Yes, when someone repents, they repent of their "sins". Repentance isn't just another word for believeing that Jesus is your Savior.) 6And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; 7And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. (He was refering to Jesus.) 8I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. (When someone becomes a Christian, the Holy Ghost (Who is the third person in the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost - also known as the Holy Spirit) comes to live inside the person and helps them live the Christian life. For more information on the Holy Spirit, see chapter 12 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com)

John the Baptist's purpose was to prepare people for Jesus' coming by getting them to repent (be willing to stop sinning) of their sins. After these people repented, they were ready to believe that Jesus is their Savior when He appeared. Once they did that, they were saved and went to heaven when they left this world.
