Yield Your Will?

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which words are italicized.

To continue the series of Sunday morning messages on Billy Graham, I recall him saying in one of his crusades, "If you yield your will to follow and serve Him (Jesus), God does something to your mind overnight." This basically means that if a person decides that they want to give up their old lifestyle and begin to live a new lifestyle (similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), they are willing to be Jesus' disciple, and if you have read chapters 1-9 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com you will see that this prepares someone's heart to receive Jesus. So, Billy wasn't wrong in saying that.

Several years ago, a lady and I were enjoying a conversation about the Bible, and I mentioned the quote in the previous paragraph. Almost immediately after saying that and mentioning Billy Graham, it looked like she had a bad taste in her mouth and said something like that the most important thing people need is the gospel. I assume that she was stressing that we should only tell sinners that they need to believe that Jesus died for their sins, was buried, and arose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). If that was what she was implying, she was correct that belief in those things are the most important things that Christians should explain to non-Christians, because those verses say, "For I delivered unto you first of all (This means that Paul passed on to them what was most important.) that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

Although, that isn't the only thing Christians are allowed to or encouraged to say when they are explaining how someone can become a Christian. See this message for a prime example - https://chriswaug5.wixsite.com/march4
