For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Luke. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE

Luke 16:1-9

1And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. 2And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward. (The steward was fired for wasting his master's resources.) 3Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. 4I am resolved what to do (In retaliation, he decided to give large discounts to his master's debtors, explained in verses 5-7.), that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. (By reducing their debts, they were more or less obligated to take him into their homes after he was fired and removed from his master's home.) 5So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?6And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. 7Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. 8And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely (Being crooked as well, the master applauded his former steward's cunning in tricking him. Psalm 49:18 explains the natural tendency of sinners to admire fellow villains' craftiness.): for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light. (Most non-Christians know the ways of sin more than Christians know the ways of God.) 9And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. (To contrast the steward's corrupt use of his master's money in order to buy friends, Christians should use their money to aide in ways for reaching people with the gospel (explaining how they can become Christians). This money can be given to churches and evangelistic associations, etc. for this purpose. As a result, Christians' true friends (those who have became Christians through the offerings that Christians gave to support them being lead to the Lord) will welcome them in heaven.)
