For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Luke. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Luke 12:13-21

13And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 14And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 15And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. (Covetousness means wanting something that someone else has, and in this case, this man thought he would be at peace and satisfied if he had the money he desired. Jesus taught him that our true purpose in life isn't defined by how much money we have.) 16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. (Jesus teaches that it is foolish to spend our time and effort collecting money and possessions and to forget about God. Instead, we should become Christians, and after this, spend our time and effort on following Jesus (living a lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com). This is being rich toward God, and the alternative is a waste of time. Notice, however, that chapter 39 mentioned in the previous sentence explains how Christians should handle their money, so money in general isn't evil. Rather, how it's handled makes all the difference. Also, see chapter 19 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com)
