For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Luke. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE

Luke 11:1-4
1And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3Give us day by day our daily bread.
4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
When someone prays and they do not think about or mean what they are praying or are just praying a prayer they memorized, God will not hear their prayer - Matthew 6:7-8 teaches, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."
Luke 11:1-4 is known as the Lord's Prayer. For a classic way to break down what this means and for a pattern that will help you remember how to pray, use the acronym - ACTS. 'A' stands for "admiring" God, 'C' stands for "confessing" your sins to God when they happen and trying not to say, think, do, or desire them again; 'T' stands for "thanking" God for blessings and difficult circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18), and 'S' stands for asking God to "supply" your needs and other people's needs. (So, Jesus gave us the example of how to pray, but we need to mean what we pray when we follow this example (Matthew 6:7-8).)
