For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Luke. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 7

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which words are italicized.

Luke 7:28-35

28For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. (John the Baptist was greater than the Old Testament prophets, because his role was to prepare people for the actual arrival of Jesus and saw Him face to face. Christians today are greater than John, because they understand Jesus' atoning work on the cross, which happened after John's death.) 29And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. (They  acknowledged that God's way was right (They needed to repent.), and they proved that when they were baptized by John.) 30But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

31And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? 32They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept. 33For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. 34The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 35But wisdom is justified of all her children.

Just like people in Jesus' day, many today make excuses as to why they won't become Christians. Or maybe they have prayed or made decisions to become Christians, but they refuse to follow Jesus - live the Christian lifestyle. (The Christian lifestyle is explained chapter 39 of this online book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com)

There are several reasons for this: they don't want to spend their time following Jesus (living a lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), they don't want to give up their sins (for example – lusting (Matthew 5:28), having sex before marriage (Galatians 5:19), getting drunk (1 Corinthians 6:10), practicing homosexuality (Romans 1:26-28), thinking bad thoughts about others (1 Corinthians 13:1–7), talking bad about others (Romans 1:29), lying, and stealing), and they were taught that everyone who prays or makes a decision to become a Christian will go to heaven and can live any way they please.
