For Wednesday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Luke. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says to not do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 4

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO LUKE

Luke 4:42-44

42And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. 43And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

44And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

Like Jesus in these verses, Christians need a break from the action every once in a while. If there isn't anything the Holy Spirit gives them thoughts to say or do, they should spend time thinking about the things of God (think about what they’ve read in the Bible (Psalm 119:15); think about things such as a miracle they witnessed or heard of, someone who got saved, some act of kindness they saw or heard of, something amazing an athlete did because God gifted them with that ability, or imagine what will be going on in heaven when they get there, etc. (Philippians 4:8); and pray how Jesus taught in Matthew 6:9-13 by (admiring God, asking God to forgive them when they sin and trying not to do it again, thanking God for blessings and difficult circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18), and asking God to help them and others). They can also do things such as read the Bible, enjoy nature, and watch things that show God's exelence in creating beauty and athleticism.

Also like Jesus in these verses, Christians need to be willing to take on new responsibilities of helping and/or witnessing to and teaching the Bible to different people when the Holy Spirit leads them to do so, instead of just ministering to the same group of people they always have.
