For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in John. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 19

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which words are italicized.

John 19:38-42

38And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. 39And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. (John 3:1-21 records that Nicodemus, who was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews, came to Jesus at night and was interested in Him, but he wasn’t able to understand Jesus’ message at that time. He also had to know that if he began to follow Jesus, the other Pharisees would greatly persecute him and possibly put him out of the synagogue. Even though Nicodemus didn’t follow Jesus “from that moment on”, he later did in John 19:39-42 when he helped bury Jesus after He died on the cross, and Nicodemus did this right in front of the Pharisees. It is really common in today’s time for people to attend church, know they need to become saved, and weeks later go forward during the invitation to receive Christ.) 41Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
