For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in John. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN

John 17:17-19

17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. (God's Truth, which is God's Word (the Bible), teaches us how to become holy by becoming Christians. If you have not prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. (God sent Jesus into the world for an ultimate mission - purchase a future home in heaven for many by the blood He shed on the cross (Matthew 26:28). Not only did Jesus do this, but He also set the example for how we should live (a lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com). Jesus told us to deny ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow Him (Luke 9:23), and chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) explains how to do this.) 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. (Jesus died on the cross in order to erase our sins (sanctify us/make us holy), and this plan is revealed in God's truth (the Bible). The Bible also more broadly teaches that sanctification is the result of someone's lifestyle changing after they trust Jesus' work on the cross to erase their sins, in which they follow Jesus more and more over time (live a lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), and justification (someone becoming a Christian) happens when they trust Jesus' work on the cross to erase their sins/accept Jesus as their Savior. So, in keeping with this definition of sanctification, Christians become more and more sanctified when they imitate Jesus' lifestyle, recorded in the Bible.)
