Lessons From A Niece
I've had a lot of respect for and learned from Franklin Graham (Billy Graham's son) over the years, but I was disappointed with some of his answers in a recent interview related to his support of Donald Trump. Although, Franklin's niece was interviewed maybe a day later and discussed evangelical leaders' full support of the president, despite his bad behavior and remarks.
She discussed how she would like Christian leaders to say that they support some of the president's policies, but not ignore his controversial remarks and habits. Franklin and other Christian leaders, on the other hand, make excuses for his behavior and confirm that he is a Christian. Franklin's niece also commented on this and tied it into repentance. When the president, or any other professing Christian, isn't sorry for their sins and continues them, something is wrong (Hebrews 12:5-8). Also, no Christian leader, no matter how prominent, should promise someone that they are going to heaven. This can lead people to have false assurance of their salvation.
