Act Of The Will
I've read Gospel tracts, books, and heard preachers discuss a person's will that's involved in them becoming a Christian. From what I took away from it is that there are three parts involved in someone becoming a Christian: a person needs to have their heart stirred so much that they are sorry, ashamed, and disappointed that they have sinned against God; believe the facts about Jesus' death on the cross for their sins, and the part that took me a long time to grasp, a person needs to accept Jesus as an act of the will.
I now understand that accepting Jesus as an act of the "will" means that you are "willing" to begin following Jesus after you pray or make a decision to believe that He died on the cross to erase their sins and believe He arose from the dead. If you have read much of the pdf file book located at www.areyousureyouaresaved.com you will see that the Bible teaches that believing the facts about Jesus' death on the cross is what gives someone salvation, but if they aren't consciously or unconsciously ready to begin following Jesus (living a lifestyle similar to the one explained in chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) after they pray or make a decision to become a Christian, their heart isn't prepared to receive Jesus, even though they believe He is the Savior.
