Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank you for the oppertunity to worship your Son this morning. We know that if He hadn't died on the cross for our sins and arose from the dead, we would have no way to have a future home in Heaven or the privilage of worshiping Him this morning. Please bless us indeed and give us the strength and wisdom to live the way the Bible says we should live. We pray that everyone who reads this sermon who are not saved will become saved before it is too late. For this Sunday morning service, we pray that You will help us to understand that we shouldn't worry about anything if we are a Christian. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Don't Worry

I have heard an explanation that goes something like this - When the devil knocks on your door, say, "Jesus, can you get that for me?" I read another statement that went something like this - Good morning. This is God. I will be taking care of all your problems today, and I do not need any of your help. So relax and enjoy your day.

As you will see, those statements match the Bible perfectly.

Philippians 4:6,7 says, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Also, it is important to note that when we worry, we are sinning. The beginning of Philippians 4:6 says, "Be careful for nothing;", and that is a command telling us to not be anxious or worry. When we don't obey the commands in the Bible, we sin. In Matthew 6:31, Jesus commands us to not worry about our physical needs like food and clothing.

Philippians 4:6.7 is a very good guideline for a Christian to follow each day when problems happen, and it means -

1. Do not worry.

2. Ask God to take away the problem (such as a sickness); ask Him to help you to stop sinning (such as being irritated and angry with other people, jealsous; thinking that you, your mind, and possessions are better than others'); ask Him to help you find a job or the right Christian to marry; ask Him to help you be able to give, witness, serve, and do acts of kindness for other people so they will admire Him and want to become Christians; ask Him to help you understand a Bible verse or verses you are unable to understand etc.

3. Thank God because you know He will fix your problem or problems.

4. Set back and relax and let God come to your rescue.

The same guideline can be used when you ask God to help other people who have problems.

1 Peter 5:7 supports this, and it says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." God doesn't want Christians to worry. Instead, He wants them to give their problems to Him because He cares for them (1 Peter 5:7), and when they give their problems to Him, He will cause a peace to come over them that will be greater than they will be able to understand (Philippians 4:7).

A similar way a Christian can avoid worrying is described in Isaiah 26:3 which says, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." If a Christian is thinking about what they read in the Bible (Psalm 119:15); thinking about things such as a miracle that they witnessed or heard of, someone who got saved, some act of kindness that they saw or heard of, or imagining what will be going on in Heaven when they get there (Philippians 4:8); and pray how Jesus taught in Matthew 6:9-13, they will be in perfect peace.

In conclusion, if a Christian wants to avoid worrying (which is a sin), they need to follow the previous paragraph, and when they have problems occur, they should follow the third paragraph of this sermon, beginning with this sentence - Philippians 4:6,7 is a very good guideline.
