True Love

This is Valentines day, and the theme is love. Particulary, the love is a love of physical attraction between males and females. However, there is a lot more to love than this.

In John 15:12-13 Jesus teaches us what true love is, "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." These verses explain the love Jesus has for us, but they have more practical explainations for how Christians should love others.

Loving others is a must if you are a Christian. Love in these verses mean that if you meet someone who has a physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or financial need (If it’s an expensive need, ask the church that you support financially with your offerings to help with the costs. The apostle Paul took up collections for expensive needs.), you should take care of those needs instead of your needs. You should be willing to die in order to protect or help someone who is different from you or even your enemy. This is love. Jesus displayed the ultimate example of love. We are very different from Him, but He loved to the point of dying on the cross to erase our sins.
