Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for this opportunity to worship You and study Your Word. We're eternally thankful that the Holy Spirit has given us a knowledge about Your Word, the Bible, so that we can help lead other people to Your Son. We're especially thankful for the opportunity to begin this series on false teachings. Please help us to not be deceived by these teachings. We pray that everyone who reads or listens to these sermons who are not a Christian will become a Christian. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

False Teachings

The Lord has led me to begin a Sunday evening series on popular teaching in churches that has literally sent people to hell. The unfortunate thing is that these pastors and teachers refuse to admit that they are wrong and change their views. However, not all of these pastors and teachers are trying to trick people, but it is very important for you to learn about these unbiblical views and warn others so they will not be deceived by these false teachings. Therefore, please pass these sermons on to others.

Before I begin to warn you about teachings that are false, the Bible actually instructs members of a church to remove people from their church who claim to be Christians, but they refuse to stop their evil ways. This definitely includes proven false teachers who are pastors and Sunday school teachers. 1 Corinthians 5:12,13; 2 John 1: 9-11; 1 Corinthians 5:2,7; 2 Corinthians 6:14-16; 2 Corinthians 11:3-6,12-15; 1 Timothy 1:3; 3:1-10; and Titus 1:6-9 support this.

False Teaching # 10 -

We don't want to preach about sin because Jesus died to erase our sins, and our sins aren't counted against us anymore.

The Bible's teaching

Galatians 5:19–21, 1 Timothy 1:9–10, 2 Timothy 3:1–5, Mark 7:20–23, Revelation 21:7–8, 1 Corinthians 6:9–11, Romans 1:24–32, 1 Corinthians 5:11, and Ephesians 5:1–7 list many sins. A common theme in these verses is Galatians 5:21 which says, "...and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

You might be saying, "A Christian can sin in these ways, and they will still inherit the kingdom of God because their past, present, and future sins have been erased because of Jesus' death on the cross for their sins."

The Bible teaches that if someone claims to be a Christian and continually sins on purpose, and they don’t feel sorry and/or try to not do them again, that person is not a Christian. A Christian can and will very likely commit some of these sins repeatedly, but that Christian will feel really bad about it and will ask God to forgive them and try their best, with the Holy Spirit’s help, to not do them again. Hebrews 12:5-11 proves this, and it says, "And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby." 1 John 5:18 adds, "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not (continually sins on purpose, isn’t bothered by it, and doesn’t repent (turn from) of it); but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”

(If you continually commit sins on purpose, and you aren't bothered and upset because of it (Hebrews 12:5–11), then you need to pray or make a decision again to become a Christian. Please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven)

False Teaching # 11 -

The goal of every church should be to lead as many people to Jesus as possible because everyone who believes that Jesus died on the cross for their sins will go to Heaven.

The Bible's teaching -

John 2:23-25 says, "Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man."

It is good that church leaders want everyone to go to Heaven, but if people aren't "willing to be committed to" (imitate and obey) Jesus, they aren't ready to become a Christian, even though they believe.

(If you have prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, but you haven't been committed to Jesus, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure)

(If you have prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus’ death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, but you have fallen for these false teachings (1 Thessalonians 5:21), please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure)

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven
