Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for this opportunity to worship You and study Your Word. We're eternally thankful that the Holy Spirit has given us a knowledge about Your Word, the Bible, so that we can help lead other people to Your Son. We're especially thankful for the opportunity to do this series on false teachings. Please help us to not be deceived by these teachings. We pray that everyone who reads or listens to these sermons who are not a Christian will become a Christian. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

False Teachings

The Lord has led me to do a Sunday evening series on popular teaching in churches that has literally sent people to hell. The unfortunate thing is that these pastors and teachers refuse to admit that they are wrong and change their views. However, not all of these pastors and teachers are trying to trick people, but it is very important for you to learn about these unbiblical views and warn others so they will not be deceived by these false teachings. Therefore, please pass these sermons on to others.

Before I begin to warn you about teachings that are false, the Bible actually instructs members of a church to remove people from their church who claim to be Christians, but they refuse to stop their evil ways. This definitely includes proven false teachers who are pastors and Sunday school teachers. 1 Corinthians 5:12,13; 2 John 1: 9-11; 1 Corinthians 5:2,7; 2 Corinthians 6:14-16; 2 Corinthians 11:3-6,12-15; 1 Timothy 1:3; 3:1-10; and Titus 1:6-9 support this.

False Teaching # 32 -

If someone doesn't praise the Lord, they aren't really a Christian. By praising the Lord, I mean shouting. I've been in church services where someone will stand up and quietly read Psalm 150:6 which says, "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD." Then, someone else will shout, "Praise the Lord." The person who shouted was the one who praised the Lord.

The Bible's Teaching -

Christians definitely should praise the Lord, but there are other ways to praise Him instead of just shouting. Telling someone about a prayer that was answered, how God has blessed you with a family, home, and job; helped you understand a Bible verse, how thankful you are because Jesus has erased your sins, how beautiful the weather is because God made it that way, etc.

If you have asked Jesus into your heart, believed that He is the Savior, or prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, etc., but you don't praise the Lord, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

False Teaching # 33 -

2 Corinthians 5:17 means that if someone has trusted Jesus' shed blood on the cross to save them, they are a new creation, in that God no longer sees their sins. Instead, He sees Jesus' blood covering them. This has nothing to do with the person's lifestyle becoming different. If they trust Christ to save them, they will go to heaven no matter how they live after they trust Jesus to save them.

The Bible's Teaching -

It is true that if someone becomes a Christian, God no longer sees their sins. Instead, He sees Jesus' blood covering them. However, it is very possible for someone to trust the blood that Jesus shed on the cross to erase their sins but not really become a Christian after that.

This is explained in these websites -

Also, 2 Corinthians 5:17 should be taken in context. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Being a new creature in Christ means that every area of someone's life will begin to be different over time, and God has given them jobs to do. One thing He wants them to do is tell people how they can become Christians. (This is what 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 means). For advice on how to do this, see chapters 26-32 of this online book - http://www.areyousureyouaresaved.com

In conclusion, if you have asked Jesus into your heart, believed that He is the Savior, or prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, etc., but you aren't a completely different person (If you’re a Christian, every area of your life is going to be different from what it used to be, and every area of your life is going to involve God. Your thoughts, conversations with people who will listen (Deuteronomy 6:7), what you watch and listen to (explained in chapter 23 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), the way you spend your time each day, where you go, future goals, physical safety (Matthew 10:28), and the way you handle your money (explained in chapter 19 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) will all be centered on God.), please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven

If you have never prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven
