Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for this opportunity to worship You and study Your Word. We're eternally thankful that the Holy Spirit has given us a knowledge about Your Word, the Bible, so that we can help lead other people to Your Son. We're especially thankful for the opportunity to do this series on false teachings. Please help us to not be deceived by these teachings. We pray that everyone who reads or listens to these sermons who are not a Christian will become a Christian. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

False Teachings

The Lord has led me to do a Sunday evening series on popular teaching in churches that has literally sent people to hell. The unfortunate thing is that these pastors and teachers refuse to admit that they are wrong and change their views. However, not all of these pastors and teachers are trying to trick people, but it is very important for you to learn about these unbiblical views and warn others so they will not be deceived by these false teachings. Therefore, please pass these sermons on to others.

Before I begin to warn you about teachings that are false, the Bible actually instructs members of a church to remove people from their church who claim to be Christians, but they refuse to stop their evil ways. This definitely includes proven false teachers who are pastors and Sunday school teachers. 1 Corinthians 5:12,13; 2 John 1: 9-11; 1 Corinthians 5:2,7; 2 Corinthians 6:14-16; 2 Corinthians 11:3-6,12-15; 1 Timothy 1:3; 3:1-10; and Titus 1:6-9 support this.

False Teaching # 27 -

Everyone in the Bible who believed that Jesus was their Savior went to heaven.

The Bible's Teaching -

In 2 Timothy 4:10 the apostle Paul said, "For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia." Demas obviously trusted Jesus’ work on the cross to save him, and he was living like a Christian because he worked with the apostle Paul, but he gave up living that lifestyle and didn't endure to the end (Jesus said in Matthew 10:22, "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.") because he loved this present world (2 Timothy 4:10). As a result, Demas went back to living his old lifestyle and proved that he wasn't saved in the first place.). First John 2:15–17 says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world (Demas was guilty of this.), the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh (committing sins mentioned in chapters 18 and 35 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com, spending more of their time each day, other than work or school, etc., thoughts, conversations with people who will listen (Deuteronomy 6:7), the way they handle their money (explained in chapter 19 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), physical safety (Matthew 10:28), what they watch and listen to (explained in chapter 23 of this book), their plans for each day, and future goals on what they want instead of what God wants), and the lust of the eyes (wanting everything they see), and the pride of life (thinking that their mind, body, accomplishments, and possessions are excellent), is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever (whoever is saved and shows evidence they are saved by avoiding the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life)."

(If you have asked Jesus into your heart, believed that Jesus is your Savior, or trusted Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into heaven, etc., but you have been repeatedly guilty of the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure)

We can use Demas' example for the Parable of the Sower. This parable means that someone who hears the gospel (how they can become a Christian) responds in four different ways, and only one response proves that they have truly been saved:

1.   They reject it (Matthew 13:19).

2.   They ask Jesus into their heart, believe that Jesus is their Savior, or trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase their sins and let them into heaven, etc., but when trials come and people mistreat them because they attempt to follow Jesus, they become discouraged and go back to living their old lifestyle (Matthew 13:20,21).

3.  (This was Demas’ problem (2 Timothy 4:10)). They ask Jesus into their heart, believe that Jesus is their Savior, or trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase their sins and let them into heaven, etc., and they begin to do things such as read the Bible, pray, serve others, and go to church, but over time they begin to spend more of their time with entertainment and material things that do not involve God and everyday things of this life. They also spend more of their time, thoughts, and effort on earning money, trying to get rich, and wanting to be rich. As a result, they give up living the Christian life and go back to living their old lifestyle (Matthew 13:22).

4.  This is the only type of response that proves someone has been saved (Matthew 13:23), with the exception of people who pass on a short time later. They ask Jesus into their heart, believe that Jesus is their Savior, or trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase their sins and let them into heaven, etc., and as a result, they spend more of their time, other than work or school, etc., thoughts, money, and efforts on things God wants. They also continue to do this for the rest of their life, and they don't give up imitating Jesus and going through the Bible and do what it says to do and don't do what it says not to do. Second Corinthians 13:5 instructs us to, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates (not really saved)?" The key is that they continue to bear good fruit for the rest of their life by doing things such as, spending more of their money on things like evangelistic associations, charities, and things for God’s purposes instead of entertainment and material type things (Matthew 6:19-21), if they have money left over from providing them self with food, clothing, and shelter, they’re willing to give to those who have needs and/or ask the church that they attend and support financially to help meet their needs (Luke 12:16-21); teaching people the Bible (Matthew 28:19), counseling with people who are having problems (Galatians 6:2), encouraging others (Hebrews 10:25), correcting other believers when they sin (Galatians 6:1), telling people how to become Christians (2 Timothy 4:5); feeding, clothing, and providing shelter and financial help for the less fortunate, visiting people in hospitals and jails (Mark 12:30-31); doing acts of kindness (Matthew 5:16); becoming more holy (They set their old plans of each day aside and spend more of their time, other than work or school, etc., doing what God wants them to do and think about.) in the way they live (Romans 6:22); sharing their material possessions with other people (Romans 15:28); having Jesus' character traits (Galatians 5:22–23) (explained in chapter 21 of www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), praising the Lord (Hebrews 13:15), answered prayer (1 John 5:14–15), and doing good works (Colossians 1:10). They also do these things because they’re thankful for Jesus dying on the cross to erase their sins, and they love Him more than anything or anyone (Psalm 139:23,24).

In conclusion, if you have asked Jesus into your heart, believed that He is the Savior, or prayed or made a decision to trust Jesus' death on the cross and His shed blood to erase your sins and let you into Heaven, etc., but you aren't living the way number 4 describes, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you are not sure that you are really a Christian (Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:18-22, 1 John 5:14, and Hebrews 11:1), you need to be sure - please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/howtogotoheaven
