Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father we thank You for this oppertunity to worship You and study Your Word. We're eternally thankful that the Holy Spirit has given us a knowledge about Your Word, the Bible, so that we can help lead other people to Your Son. We're especially thankful for the oppertunity to begin this series on false teachings. Please help us to not be deceived by these teachings. We pray that everyone who reads or listens to these sermons who are not saved will become saved. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

False Teachings

The Lord has led me to begin a Sunday evening series on popular teaching in churches that has literally sent people to hell. The unfortunate thing is that these pastors and teachers refuse to admit that they are wrong and change their views. However, not all of these pastors and teachers are trying to trick people, but it is very important for you to learn about these unbiblical views and warn others so they will not be deceived by these false teachings. Therefore, please pass these sermons on to others.

Before I begin to warn you about teachings that are false, the Bible actually instructs members of a church to remove people from their church who claim to be Christians, but they refuse to stop their evil ways. This definitely includes proven false teachers who are pastors and Sunday school teachers. 1 Corinthians 5:12,13; 2 John 1: 9-11; 1 Corinthians 5:2,7; 2 Corinthians 6:14-16; 2 Corinthians 11:3-6,12-15; 1 Timothy 1:3; 3:1-10; and Titus 1:6-9 support this.

False Teaching # 1 - No one is totally commited to Jesus, so if you have prayed to become a Christian, you will go to Heaven.

The Bible's teaching - 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Even though a Christian will still make mistakes, every area of their life will be changed more and more over time. All things will become new. Their thoughts, conversations with people who will listen (Deuteronomy 6:7), what they read, watch and listen to (explained in Chapter 23 of this book), the way they spend their time each day, where they go, their desires, future goals, physical safety (Matthew 10:28), and the way they handle their money (explained in this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/giving) will all be centered on God. If someone prays or makes a decision to become a Christian, but they "never" change, then something is wrong.

(If you have prayed or made a decision to become a Christian, but you haven't been living these ways, please follow this website - http://chriswaug5.wix.com/makingsure

False Teaching # 2 - If you have prayed "1 time" to become a Christian, you will go to Heaven.

The Bible's teaching - 2 Corinthians 13:5 says, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates (not really saved)?"

So people won't believe that they are a Christian when they're really not and end up going to Hell, God has given many tests (or examinations) in His Word, the Bible, for people to take that will help them to know if they are really a Christian. This website - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com has many of these tests that you can take. If you have failed, you will have the oppertunity to become a Christian before it is too late.
