New Year's Resolutions

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which

words are italicized.

When someone makes a New Year resolution, it involves them pledging to make challenging efforts to improve them self. Whether if it involves no longer getting drunk or handling their finances better, it takes strong self-will and determination.

For those wanting to become Christians, though, have supernatural help in Jesus when they repent. A common misconception about repentance is that someone has to stop their sinful ways through their own power. Although, someone has to be willing to stop their sinful ways after they believe Jesus died to erase their sins and arose from the dead. The exciting news, however, is that God helps them stop their sinful ways. The willingness must be there, but God gives them the ability after Jesus' shed blood erases their sins and the Holy Spirit comes to live inside them. On the other hand, those who know that they are going to continue their sinful ways after they become Christians, without trying to stop, do not truly repent. John 3:19-20 says, "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."
