New Heart And A New Spirit For A New Year

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which

words are italicized.

With 2019 around the corner, lets be sure we have a new and all important start. Ezekiel 36:25-27 explains the newness God wants for us, "25Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. (When we're cleansed (become Christians), our sins and idolatry should be a thing of the past. (We should be bothered when we sin and be able to resist sinning more and more over time.)) 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. (Zechariah 7:11-14 reveals the danger of doing the opposite by having no desire to give up our sins, "11But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. 12Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts. 13Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts: 14But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate." As verses 13-14 (along with 2 Chronicles 36:16 and Romans 1:18-32) teach, we can stubbornly refuse to repent for so long, that our hearts can become too hard to receive forgiveness from God. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. (When we become Christians, the Holy Spirit comes into us and gives us the ability to live the way the Bible says we should live.)"
