Opening Prayer - Heavenly Father, we thank you for the oppertunity to worship your Son this morning. We know that if He hadn't died on the cross for our sins and arose from the dead, we would have no way to have a future home in Heaven or the privilage of worshiping Him this morning. Please bless us indeed and give us the strength and wisdom to live the way the Bible says we should live. We pray that everyone who reads this sermon who are not saved will become saved before it is too late. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Controlling Your Speech

In James 3:9–12 it says, "Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh."

People may think they are Christians because they praise God, but if they say bad things to people and bad things about people, then something is wrong. Check out these verses that are similar to James 3:9-12 -

"Do all things without murmurings and disputings (complaining and arguing): That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:14–15)

"For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile (telling lies and misleading someone to get them to believe what is false or get them to not believe what is true)." (1 Peter 3:10)

"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain." (James 1:26)

If someone argues a lot and professes to be a Christian, then something is wrong.
