For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in Acts. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 14

ACTS

My copy and paste feature doesn't keep the words that are supposed to be italicized, so instead of me doing it manually, refer to a Bible to see which words are italicized.

Acts 13:52

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

With so many people responding and accepting Jesus, you may think that Paul presented a message in which he encouraged them to only believe that Jesus died for their sins. But, Paul said in Acts 26:20, "But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance." This means if someone truly repents and turns to God (changes, with God’s help, and begins to think and live the way God wants them to think and live), they will begin to do good works. One way someone can know if they have really received salvation is if they begin to do good works (James 2:17).

Another way to explain this is that people must be willing to begin doing good works (following Jesus) after they accept Jesus as their Savior. I promise you, a major part of following Jesus is doing good works. While Jesus was on earth, He caused people to praise and think good about God by helping others (doing good works), and when He wasn't doing that, His mind was on the things of His Father. (Chapter 39 of the pdf file book featured at this website - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com gives an example of what following this pattern looks like.) This is how someone needs to be consciously or unconsciously willing to begin living after they accept Jesus as their Savior.
