For Sunday evening services, the Lord has lead me to do a Bible study for practical Bible verses in John. Please come back to these Bible lessons in order to review them and learn them. Whenever we have learned the meaning of Bible verses and think about them throughout each day, we will be in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). Not only that, but when we are in a situation in our daily lives and are tempted to sin, we can think back to what we have learned from the Bible and say to ourselves, "The Bible says not to do what I am tempted to say, think, do, and/or desire right now, so I am going to refuse to give in to this temptation." This is what Romans 12:2 means, and it says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." This is also the pattern that Jesus used when the devil tempted Him to sin in Matthew 4:1-11.

Chapter 2

ACTS

Acts 2:37-38

37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? (After hearing Peter's sermon, they were grieved due to their sins and knew they weren't going to heaven and needed to become Christians.) 38Then Peter said unto them, Repent (The major sin they needed to repent of was having Jesus crucified, but Acts 2:40 indicates that they needed to have the desire to stop living like the corrupt and crooked people of their time. Philippians 2:5 supports this and proclaims, "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;" (In order to not be criticized, live clean, innocent lives as God's children. As a result, you will shine brightly in the world that has many perverse and crooked people.) Obviously, the people had to understand that they needed to trust Jesus' work on the cross to erase their sins and know He was their Savior, instead of just the need to repent of their sins. For information on the relationship of repentance and belief in Jesus' work on the cross, see chapters 1-9 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com), and be baptized every one of you

(Romans 6:1-7 says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (When Christians are baptized, it symbolizes their sinful lifestyle being buried, and when they are raised out of the water, it represents that they are a new person and will live their new lifestyle by following Jesus. (For an example of how to follow Jesus, see chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) Just like Jesus was raised from the dead by the glorious power of God, Christians are given new life, and the power of the Holy Spirit gives them the ability to live the Christian lifestyle. For an example of the Christian lifestyle, see chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: (If we have died to our sins (become Christians), we will follow Jesus afterwards (Chapter 39 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com gives examples of what this involves.) and be raised to heaven when we leave this world. For an explanation of how someone can become a Christian, see chapter 41 of this book - www.areyousureyouaresaved.com) Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceaforth we should not serve sin. (When someone is a Christian, their old sinful lifestyle is dead. When the Holy Spirit (The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. One of His purposes is to help Christians to be able to live the Christian lifestyle.) comes to live inside a person as soon as they become a Christian, sin doesn't seem as attractive and desirable.) For he that is dead is freed from sin.")

in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, (Being baptized doesn't grant salvation, but after someone becomes a Christian and has a clean conscious, they should be baptized (1 Peter 3:20-21).) and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Once someone's sins are erased and forgiven by God, the Holy Spirit comes to live inside them (Romans 8:9-11).)
